How I accidentally made 5,000$ with YouTube livestreams

Trust me this is a good read.

So it was a Sunday morning in 2017, and I noticed something strange when I was browsing on YouTube. There were livestreams plastered everywhere, and these were not ordinary livestreams. They were 24/7 livestreams showcasing popular YouTubers subscriber counts. These livestreams had hundreds of viewers. I couldn’t understand why people would watch other people’s subscriber count update live. I thought to myself, “Any idiot can put together a livestream just showing a website that keeps tracks of YouTuber live subscribers”. At this time, I tried streaming on twitch tv, so I already understood how to stream. I used OBS which enables the ability to stream to pretty much any platform. I then found a website that showcases live subscriber accounts. I then found the 12 biggest YouTubers, and plastered their live subscriber counts on this livestream. It was incredibly easy. At this time, my YouTube account was monetized. I clicked “Start Streaming” and hoped for the best.

After a few hours I come back to my livestream, and I see that there is about 500 viewers in my stream. I couldn’t believe my eyes. I couldn’t believe there were 500 people watching numbers go up and down. I then went to bed, and woke up to 3000 people watching my livestream. During this event, my channel gained close to 70,000 subscribers in a little under 48 hours. I realized that I was getting so much traffic because I was high in the ranking when users were searching for these huge YouTubers. When searching for “PewDiePie”, my livestream was ranked #3. This is incredible since PewDiePie is the largest YouTubers on the platform. I actually couldn’t believe it. Unfortunately this only lasted a few days, as YouTube finally caught on. They realized that their new algorithm favored livestreams in the search engine, which caused them to rank way higher then just regular videos. After releasing an update, YouTube killed my livestream. It went from 4000 viewers to about 50. I ended up taking down the livestream. After taking down the livestream, it equated to over 3,000,000 views. I then realized that I was paid a little over 5,000$ for this specific livestream. So there is my story on how I made a little over $5,000 on accident using YouTube Livestreams. I hope you enjoyed my story! Thanks for reading
